An integral part of enjoying the on-mountain activities that we love so deeply is having the proper strength and endurance to take us from dawn until dusk. I am grateful that for the last 8 weeks, I’ve been able to team up with Helly to offer free training sessions to locals and tourists alike as a means to maintain our healthy, active lifestyles.
Outside the gym, we put our bodies to the test. We lift heavy things, sit for long periods, play on our phones with poor posture, and try new things our body isn’t trained for.
You may have heard of foam rolling or myofascial release, especially in the gym. The reason people don't do it is usually because they don’t know why (or how!), and it’s often uncomfortable. Please read on, I promise there’s a point to it!

Before getting into the sport of Ultra Running, there are a few things to be considered. The most obvious is distance. Ultra running is great for people that are goal-driven, or for those who aspire to be! Patience and hard work over a long period of time will definitely make these events more rewarding. Another factor is travel. Ultra running allows you to experience travel destinations from a whole new perspective. It really allows you to spend time with local runners and immerses you in nature. It really is unique!
Some of you may have seen our personal trainers, or staff members performing something called a calf smash lately. It doesn't look painful, but trust us it can be. To achieve the effects of a calf smash you will need a partner, although you can do it on your own but the effects won't be as satisfying.
